

Gertrude E. "Trudy" Day, 78, of Springfield, passed away at Memorial Medical Center, on Sunday, April 20, 2014. Trudy was born on September 9, 1935, in Pawnee, IL, the daughter of the late Clyde and Dena (Eason) Cave. In 1955 Trudy married Don Day, they shared 59 years of marriage together. Trudy was a member of the TRN Club where she enjoyed attending parties, playing cards, and dancing. She was an avid bowler working for many years at Strike 'N' Spare East, she is a member of the Springfield Bowling Hall of Fame. Prior to her numerous years at Strike 'N' Spare East she worked for News Channel 20.
Surviving Trudy is her loving husband Don, her children; Tim R. Day of IA, and Lisa (Kurt) Kanellos of Naperville, a grandson Evan Kanellos, her sisters Beverly (Charles) Peterson and Carolyn "Penny" (Pat) Ryan both of Mesa, AZ, nieces and nephews: Dawn, Mike, Shawn, Shirleen, and Holly, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Trudy in death are her parents, and a brother Ronald K. Cave.
Funeral services are under the direction of Bisch & Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen St. Springfield, IL 62703, where a visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 4-7 pm. A funeral service officiated by Rev. Mark Gifford will be on Friday, April 25, 2014, at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Old Salem Cemetery.
