

Glen W. Hinds, 85, of Springfield, died at 12:20 a.m. on Monday, September 26, 2005 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Glen was born on June 25, 1920 in Salisbury, the son of William G. and Marie Davis Hinds. He married Helen Williamson; she preceded him in death on February 24, 1980. Glen retired in 1978 from Fiat Allis where he had been employed as an assembly worker for thirty-two years. He was a member of United Auto Workers Union #1027 and the Moose Club. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, never missing a game whether on TV or attending a game in Chicago. He loved watching Days of Our Lives without being interrupted and also a member of the Roman Catholic faith. He was also preceded in death by one daughter: Kathy Ann Lowery; two brothers: Virgil and Edward Hinds and one sister: Matella Steinkerger. He is survived by two sons: Ronald L. (wife, Jaye) Hinds of Jacksonville and Michael G. Hinds of Springfield; four grandchildren: Chris Merrighn, Michelle Edwards and Randa and Scott Hinds; four great grandchildren: Ashley Merrighn, Michael Merrighn, Jr., Abbey Mariconi and Noah Edwards; two sisters: Donna Allen of Springfield and Marcella Lael of Williamsville; one brother: William K. 'Kenny'(wife, Belva) Hinds of Springfield and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.on Thursday, September 29, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Haag officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
