Gloria C. David, 88, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013 at Regency Nursing Facility. Gloria, the daughter of Henry and Barbara (Schnupp) Vogt was born on February 9, 1925 in Petersburg, IL. Gloria married William "Bill" David on July 30, 1973. Gloria was employed at Sangamo Electric from 1943 until its closing. Gloria, a lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, was active in the community. She provided transportation, food, company and caring for many residents of Capitol Plaza (formerly Pope John Paul I apts.) where she lived for 27 years. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Vogt; one sister, Joyce (husband, Lawrence) Aherin; and her husband, Bill David. She is survived by her nieces, Mary Kay (husband, Don) Smargiassi of Pawnee, Maureen (husband, Jeff) Kahn of St. Charles, IL, and Pat (husband, Ken) Murrie of Fircrest, WA; nephews, Larry Aherin of Rancho Mirage, CA, James Aherin of St. Charles, IL, and Richard Vogt of Springfield; and several great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and many friends, including her special friend, Sue Graves of Springfield. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Private family burial will be at Oak Ridge Cemetery. In accordance with Gloria's wishes, no services will be held.
