H. John Sorensen

Jack was born April 1, 1926 in Racine,WI. the son of Herbert and Grace M. Lawson Sorensen. He married his best friend and love of his life, Bernadine Louise Kingery in Pittsfield, IL. Sept. 2, 1951 and she survives him. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother William A.(wife, Mona) Sorensen.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1949. He was formerly Assistant Bureau Chief at the Illinois Department of Transportation and a principal partner of his construction consulting firm. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, BPOE Elks Lodge, American Legion, Illinois Association of Highway Engineers, Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers and the University of Illinois Alumni Association.

He is survived by his wife, Bernardine L. Sorensen; son Mark Andrew(wife,Patricia ) Sorensen; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren; a brother, Richard L.(wife, Dorthea) Sorensen; a niece and a great nephew.

The family is being served by Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel where friends may call Friday from 6 to 8:00 PM and where services will be held 10:30 AM Saturday Oct. 11, 2008 with Rev. Eugene Bilotti officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
