

Harold L. "Kookie" England, 71, of Springfield, peacefully passed away at 6:33 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at his home with his children by his side while watching a Cardinals game. Kookie was born July 12, 1942 in Springfield, the son of Wayne and Margaret Simpson England. He married Donna Janas in 1985. Kookie retired from the State of Illinois Department of Transportation and was a professional magician. He was also an avid Cardinals fan and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Post #437 in Springfield. Kookie loved fishing and was a history buff and especially enjoyed military history. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Thomas, Robert and Donald "Tiny" England; and two sisters, Nancy Kunshek and Mary Joyce Doerfler. He is survived by his children, Todd England of Studio City, CA, Rhett England of Springfield, Shawn England of Peoria, and Tara England (fianc Joshua Mitts) of Springfield; wife, Donna England; and seven grandchildren, Brandon Fouch, Nicholas, Michael, Matthew and Andrew Bianchi, Anthony Hurley, and Bryce Mitts. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home.
