He was born September 4, 1944, in Vincennes, Indiana, to George and Marjorie Rich. George was serving in the army in Europe at the time of his birth.
Harold served in the Air Force for four years and had a long career with Schnepp and Barnes Printers in Springfield, until its closure in 2009. Harold was a devoted and active member of Springfield Lodge #4 AF&AM (32nd degree), the Springfield Consistory, Ansar Shrine and the Springfield Court #20 Royal Order of Jesters. He found fulfillment in the work and fellowship of the Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary, born in 1950 but surviving just one day. He is survived by his son, Jeff Bristow (Angie Frink-Bristow) of Cape Coral, FL, and his brother, Jerry Rich (Linda Rich) of Farmington, MN; five grandchildren: Jack, Henry, and Kate; and two step-grandchildren: Madison and Dylan.
Arrangements are in the care of Bisch and Son Funeral Home 505 E. Allen St. Springfield, IL where a memorial gathering will take place at 9:00 am until 10:00 am Friday, October 24, 2025. Sharing of memories by family and friends will begin at 10:00 am followed by Springfield Lodge #4 AF&AM Masonic Rites at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Inurnment will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery.
