Hazel E. Woods, 84, of Chatham, died at 12:25 p.m. on Monday, April 6, 2009 at Heritage Manor. Hazel was born February 9, 1925 in Illiopolis, the daughter of Joseph and Nettie Rager Allison. She first married Charles Goetz on June 27, 1946 in Springfield. He preceded her in death. She later married Kalvin Woods. He also preceded her in death. Hazel graduated from Illiopolis High School. She was employed by the Illinois Department of Revenue until her retirement in 1987. Prior to that, she worked for School District 186. Hazel enjoyed ballroom dancing, painting, feeding and caring for birds, playing the organ and gardening. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sister, Betty Sidener. She is survived by a son, David (wife, Melinda) Goetz of Corona, CA; two daughters, Kristine A. (husband, Chuck) Cannon of Chatham and Susan (husband, Dale) Dunlop of Reston, VA; six grandchildren, Cara and Cory Cannon, Michael Dunlop, and Jason, Andrea and Erik Simpson; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph Allison, Jr. of Springfield. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the Illinois Humane Society, P.O. Box 512, Springfield, IL 62705.
