

Helen J. Dempsey, 88, of Springfield, died at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg. Helen was born March 11, 1916 in New Berlin, the daughter of John and Anna C. Keller Hickey. Ms. Dempsey, a graduate of New Berlin High School, worked in Chicago and Bloomington for Illinois Agriculture Association and retired from there after several years of service. She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Cathedral Council of Catholic Women. She also volunteered for St. John’s Good Samaritans. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John and Edward Hickey and one sister: Katherine Hogan. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and one cousin. Family will receive friends from 11-12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola officiating.
