Helen J. Dempsey

Helen J. Dempsey, 88, of Springfield, died at 10:35 a.m. Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg. Helen was born March 11, 1916 in New Berlin, the daughter of John and Anna C. Keller Hickey. Ms. Dempsey, a graduate of New Berlin High School, worked in Chicago and Bloomington for Illinois Agriculture Association and retired from there after several years of service. She was a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and Cathedral Council of Catholic Women. She also volunteered for St. John’s Good Samaritans. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: John and Edward Hickey and one sister: Katherine Hogan. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and one cousin. Family will receive friends from 11-12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Services will be at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 14, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview. Memorial contributions may be made to Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E.
