

Helen May Hudspeth, 94, of Bement, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 2, 2017 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. She was born January 25, 1923 to Paul Frank and Florence May Wilson Bushey. Helen was preceded in death by her sisters, Thelma, Alice, Minnie: brothers, Wilson, Bob, Richard, Lloydm and Carl. She married William Stuart Hudspeth May 28, 1944, after meeting in Bible College; they worked hand-in-hand in church ministry and as foster parents, reflecting Gods love for all. She was a member of the 1st Christian Church in Bement, and played a prominent role in the music ministry and Ladies Aid Society at the church. Helen was a kind, loving and humble person. A wife, mother, and grandmother and great-grandmother, who was also always fun loving, and loved by all her family and friends. Helen enjoyed crocheting afghans, belts, collars, hats and scarves and in her earlier years, made her daughters clothing. She was active in home-extension. Helen was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sandoval. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 73 years, Reverend William Stuart Hudspeth of Bement; daughters, Georgina Hudspeth (husband John Zeuner) of Austin, TX and Judy Dale (husband Larry) of Petersburg, IL; grandchildren, Nels Dale of Nashville, TN and Laura Clemens of Springfield, IL; great grandson, Jonathan Clemens; sister Betty Zolman of Sandusky, Ohio; brother, Eugene Bushey of Hastings, Michigan. Funeral ceremony will be held at 12:30pm Sunday, October 8th, at 1st Christian Church, 164 East Wing Street, Bement, IL, 61813. Burial will follow at Bement Cemetery. Her family will greet friends at a reception at the church, following all services. Memorial Contributions may be made to Salvation Army, Red Cross, 1st Christian Church of Bement, or St. Judes.
