

Helen Meiron, 77, of Springfield, died at 1:28 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, 2005 at her residence. Helen was born on June 5, 1927 in Chicago, the daughter of Charles and Sophia Petkus Meiron. She was a 1945 graduate of Lanphier High School. She had been employed by the State of Illinois Public Auditors Office from 1952 until she began her employment in 1954 with Franklin Life Insurance Company where she retired on May 27, 1987 as a data processor. She was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was everybody’s aunt who enjoyed traveling all over the United States and attending daily mass at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one sister: Betty Ritter of Springfield; one brother: Charles “Chuck” Paul (wife, Tomi) Meiron of Springfield; one niece, six nephews and several great nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6, 2005 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2005 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2125 N. 21st St. Springfield with Very Rev. Thomas Liebler V.F. celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Hospice, 800 E.
