Henrietta Nortrup-Hayes

Henrietta Rose Nortrup-Hayes, 96, died on Monday, February 1, 2016 in Tucson, AZ. Henrietta was born November 12, 1919 in Franklin, the daughter of Henry and Olive Vollmer Lukeman. She married Arthur Nortrup on February 1, 1943 at Sacred Heart Church in Franklin; he preceded her in death in 1983. She married William Hayes in 1988 and he preceded her in death in 1996. Henrietta attended a one room elementary school house in Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School in 1937. She worked at Sangamo Electric during WWII. She and her husband owned and operated Nortrup's Market from 1950-1967, and she later retired from IL Bell Telephone Company in 1986. Henrietta was a member of the St. Louise de Marrillac Guild and St. Agnes Altar and Rosary Society. She loved traveling (especially to Branson), playing Bingo and cards, going to the casino and going out to eat. She was an avid Arizona Wildcats Basketball fan. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Margaret (husband, Cecil) Blackhurst and Mary (husband, John) Picco. She is survived by one son, Thomas Nortrup of Richardson, TX; two daughters, Rita Nortrup of Springfield and Teresa (husband, Bill) Svetlik of Tucson, AZ; two grandchildren, Katie and Rachel Svetlik; four step-children, John Hayes, James Hayes, Susan Donin and Cindy Guarante; eight step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Cremation was accorded prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 245 N. Amos, Springfield. The memorial gathering will begin with a prayer service at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Agnes Catholic Church with Rev. Robert J. Jallas, celebrant.
