

Henry G. Eaves, 95, of Springfield died at 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Henry was born May 31, 1922 in Springfield, the son of Henry and Mildred Colesar Eaves. He married Bertha Stephens on June 21, 1944 in Springfield. Henry was a graduate of Lanphier High School. He also attended Springfield College and Marquette University. He attended Chatham Presbyterian Church and Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield. Henry was a District Manager of Circulation for the State Journal-Register; and then had a long career in advertising at Sangamo Electric Company. He served as an officer, and was on the Board of Directors, of the Sangamo Employee Credit Union. He was a long-time Democratic Precinct Committeeman, and a Doorman for the Illinois Legislature. Henry enjoyed spending time at his home in Florida, as well as traveling with the Marine Bank 55 Club. He enjoyed working in his yard, watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball and Dallas Cowboy football, and spending time with his family. He was a great husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his half-sister, Nelia Lee. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; daughter, Sandra Mollahan (Rick) of Rochester; grandchildren, Brynna Mollahan (Hugh) and Eric Mollahan (Khloee); and longtime friends and extended family. The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Funeral Ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Joe Eby officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
