

He was born Feb. 23, 1919 in Chicago, IL the son of Otto C Haaker and Elizabeth Burita Haaker. Herbert was the youngest of five children.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Weisiger Haaker; son, David O. (wife, Anne) Haaker; daughter, Linda Haaker Cisco; step-daughter, Christine Weisiger; step-son, George C. Weisiger; and four granddaughters, Alyssa L. Haaker, Hillary C. Haaker, Sarah M. Cisco and Rachel S. Cisco.
Herbert attended Chicago schools, Northwestern University and graduated from John Marshal Law School. He joined the Franklin Life Ins. Co. in 1950 moving to Springfield and retired after 35 years in the Investment Department.
Herbert served in World War II and was assigned to the Air Corps as Communications Security officer.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, St. Pauls #500 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Ansar Shrine, and Abraham Lincoln High 12.
Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 13 at First Presbyterian Church with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel is serving the family.
