Herman Ruth Mason, 91, of Springfield, died at 2:20 p.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Lewis Memorial Christian Village. Herman was born April 17, 1925 in Gillespie, the son of William and Pansy Rice Mason. He married Lavonne Wood on November 24, 1985 in Las Vegas, NV; she preceded him in death. Herman proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Navy. He was employed with Golblatts for 18 years as a manager. He was an avid baseball fan. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Floyd and Jimmy. He is survived by his children, Donald Mason of St. Charles, IL, Diane Mason of Addison, IL, and Carol Gasper of Nyland, CA; two grandchildren, Melissa Church and Kristy Mason; and one great-grandchild, Ashley. Graveside Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
