

Hiram was born March 30, 1928, in Springfield, IL, the son of Lyman “Earl” and Florence Barnes Phillips. He married Gaile Callbeck on March 22, 1958, in Springfield; she preceded him in death on February 21, 2020.
Hiram was 3rd generation owner of Phillips Brothers Printer and a Veteran of the United States Air Force. Hiram was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Springfield. He was the longest member of the Island Bay Yacht Club and former board member of Lincoln Memorial Gardens. Hiram was an avid photographer, liked sailing and playing bridge. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Thomas Lyman Phillips; and sister, Constance Feldhausen
Hiram is survived by his daughters, Sally (Dave) Jones and Katie (Jack) Marinelli, both of Springfield, IL; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother, David Phillips of Springfield; close family friend, Doris Prather; and several nieces and nephews.
A private family visitation and burial with Military Honors will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorial service to celebrate Hiram’s life will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023 at First Presbyterian Church, 321 S. Seventh Street in Springfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Lincoln Memorial Gardens.
