

Howard A. Hullinger was surrounded by his family when he was gloriously healed and walked into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday August 16, 2010.
He was born in Winchester, IL, March 5, 1923 the son of Arthur and Gertrude Hughes Hullinger. He parents and 2 brothers, Murle and Clyde preceded him in death.
Howard married Crystal Hughes June 2, 1946 in Springfield and she survives.
He served in the United States Army during WW II.
He is also survived by his daughter; Susan (husband Chris) Schwarberg of Springfield, two grandchildren; Brian (wife Sara) Schwarberg of Springfield, and Erin (husband Jeremy) Fenelon of Champaign, IL. two great grandsons; Benjamin and Caleb Schwarberg and many many friends.
Howard loved his family and looked forward to anytime the family could get together. He was known as “Mr. Fixit.” He could fix anything. He loved his church as well. A member of Central Baptist Church, he followed the example of Jesus as he devoted his life to serving others. He served as a superintendant of the Sunday school, as well as, taught Sunday school, served as the Moderator, building superintendant, was a youth sponsor and minister of visitation.
Howard retired in 1982 as a foreman for the Fiat-Allis Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Fiat-Allis Retiree’s, the Springfield Motorboat Club, was an avid bowler and a member of various leagues till just up to 5 years ago. On December 2, 1993 at the age of 70, he bowled a perfect 300 game.
Howard’s family welcomes friends to the visitation at Central Baptist Church 501 S. 4th Street Springfield from 10:00 am -12:30 pm Thursday August 19, 2010 followed by a celebration of his life at 12:30 pm. Dr. Reg Mills will officiate.
Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the U.S. Army will provide military honors.
In lieu of flowers, those that wish, may direct memorial contributions to the Youth Fund at Central Baptist Church.
