

Ida M. Daniels, 89, of Springfield, passed away at 3:19 p.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at St. Joseph's Home. Ida was born October 15, 1921 in Riverton, the daughter of Tito and Florence DiProfio DeSalle. She married Herman Daniels in 1945 and he preceded her in death in 1985. Ida was a graduate of St. Joseph's School and Ursuline Academy. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Little Flower Parish, Home Extension Sangamon County, Friendly Club, St. Anthony Club, and was a Girl Scout Leader. Ida made friends very easily and loved having get togethers with family. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert DeSalle; and sisters, Dora Irwin Robbins, Sr. Mary Angela DeSalle, O.S.J., Clara Hanselman, and Jennie Bartletti. She is survived by her sons, David E. (Mary Ellen) Daniels, Sr. and Richard "Dick" (Sandy) Daniels, both of Springfield, Armand (Janice) Daniels of Raymondville, MO, and Philip (Katie) Daniels of Canton, OH; daughter, Cheri (Bill) Wiant of Springfield; twelve grandchildren, David E. (Michelle) Daniels, II, Angela (Jeff) Burt, Anthony M. Daniels, Kristi (Chris) Brown, Matt (Noel) Daniels, Lindy (Mike) Phelan, Benjamin and Susan Daniels, Deanna (John) Scott, Joseph (Wendy) Daniels, and Jesse and Jed Wiant; thirteen great-grandchildren, Amanda, Sara and Geno Daniels, Lexi Smith, Connor, Owen and Landon Brown, Nathan, Jacob and Carrie Daniels, Reese and Paige Phelan and Henry Scott; sister, Rose Colasacco of Springfield; sister-in-law, Linda DeSalle of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011 at Church of the Little Flower, 800 Stevenson Dr., Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
