Ina Coats, 87, of Springfield, passed away at 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at St. John's Hospice. Ina was born July 22, 1925 in Winchester, the daughter of Michael and Edith Benton Quinn. She married Ken Coats on May 24, 1947 in Winchester. Ina was a graduate of Winchester High School, where she was a cheerleader and sang in the choir. She spent most of her life as a homemaker, caring for her beloved family. She was known for being very outgoing and for being a great mother. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Ken Coats of Springfield; her eight children, Jim (wife, Cheryl) Coats of South Windsor, CT, Joe (wife, Pat) Coats of Boulder, CO, Tom (wife, Mary) Coats of Louisville, CO, Dan (wife, Peggy) Coats of Champaign, Phil (wife, Cyndy) Coats of Springfield, IL, Jan (husband, John) Sluys of Gig Harbor, WA, Kay Coats of Salem, OR and Mindy (husband, Chris) Torbit of O'Fallon, MO; and 16 grandchildren.
