

Irvin W. Ladage, 89, of Chatham, passed away at his home on Friday, January 11, 2013, with his loving family by his side. Irvin was born on October 15, 1923 in Springfield, the son of Charles August and Nellie Marie (Sturm) Ladage. He married Wanda Jean Chandler on December 10, 1950, they celebrated 62 years of marriage together, she survives. Irvin proudly served our country in the Army during WWII. He spent many years farming in the Chatham area. After working in the fields, Irvin enjoyed working in his garden around the home, or cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Irvin was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham, the local Farm Bureau, and of the American Legion. Also surviving are his children; Kathy McConnell of Chicago, Donald (Bonnie) Ladage of Chatham, Janet (John) Theilen of Springfield, Ronald (Jean) Ladage of Chatham, Nancy (Randy) McDonald of Loami, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, a sister Lois Ladage of Springfield, sisters-in-law; Amelia Ladage of Taylorville, Sylvia Ladage of Springfield, brother-in-law, Bob Diekhoff of Nixa, MO, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death were his parents, and siblings, Walter, Katherine, Henry, Robert, Alfred “Tubby”, Harriet Diekhoff, and Charles “Sonny” Ladage. Visitation for Irvin will be on Monday, January 14, 2013, from 4-7 pm at Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S Koke Mill Rd, Springfield, IL 62711. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Chatham, 1225 N Main St, Chatham, IL 62629 with a brief lie in state from 9 am until the time of service.
