

Jack Amrhein, 73, a lifelong resident of Springfield, died at 6:05 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2003 at St. John’s Hospice. Jack was born October 28, 1929 in Springfield, the son of Carl and Clara Wirth Amrhein. He married Jean Saner September 18, 1952 at Church of the Little Flower in Springfield. Mr. Amrhein was a graduate of Cathedral Boys High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame. He was president of Amrhein Bakery from 1953-1973 and later worked as a tax accountant. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air force serving during the Korean War. He was past president of American Business Club and was awarded National AMBUC man of the year in 1965. He was a member of Church of the Little Flower. He was a member and actively participated in many civic organizations in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife: Jean of Springfield; three sons: Carl Amrhein of Darien, John (wife, Norma) Amrhein of Tucson, AZ, Tom Amrhein of Springfield; three daughters: Barb Amrhein of Canyon, TX, Jackie (husband, Doug) Bales of Peoria, AZ, Kitsy Amrhein of Springfield; three grandchildren: Stacey Bales, Greg Bales and John Glenn Amrhein and several cousins. Friends may call at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home from 4-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2003 at Church of the Little Flower with Fr. Chuck Edwards celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
