Jack Edward Denton, 66, of Springfield, passed away at 2:20 p.m., Friday, March 23, 2001 at his residence. He was born November 5, 1934 the son of Emery and Dorothy Wilson Sarff in Springfield. Mr. Denton worked at Sears Company and retired from there after 37 years of service. Later he worked for the city of Springfield. Mr. Denton had also coached Little League Baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his four sons: Russell (wife-Barbara) of Foley, AL, John of Foley, AL, Joe (wife-Reva) of Odem, TX, and Jay of Springfield; one brother: Ron (wife-Joan) Sarff of Ft. Meyers, FL; a life-long friend: Bill Keeley of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial donations may be made to Memorial Medical Center Foundation 1 Memorial Plaza Springfield, IL 62702-9907. Remains were cremated and burial will be at a later date in Edinburg Cemetery.
