James was born on November 30, 1942, in Downers Grove, the son of James and Elva (Alexander) Burshears. He married Kathleen Holmes on April 8, 1972, in Oaklawn, IL.
James graduated from Downers Grove North High School. He owned F&S lawn care and worked for the Department of Rehabilitation until his retirement. After retirement, James drove a school bus for Chatham School District for eight years. James was a car collector and enjoyed going to car shows. He liked hunting and loved his Brittany Spaniel hunting dogs.
James was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Nancy Hindman.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Burshears of Glenarm; son, Joey (Bridget) Burshears of Owensboro, KY; daughter, Laura Burshears of Glenarm; grandchildren, Maddie, Emma, Brenden, and Ellie Burshears; and siblings, Patricia (Lynn) Kleinvehn of Texas, Karen (Jim) Nelson of Missouri, and Charles (Diane) Burshears of Texas.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Butler Funeral Home-Chatham, 8855 State Rte. 4, Chatham.
