James F.G. "George" Colburn, 43, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2009. George was born June 24, 1965 in Redondo Beach, CA, the son of John Colburn and Marion Briggemeyer Spaulding. He married Lisa Kruger on August 2, 2008 in Springfield. George was a talented carpenter. He loved building trades, fishing and attending his kid's sporting events, working on his aquarium, and golfing. Those who knew him, knew him as a gentle soul and a kind and loving husband, father, son, and friend. Preceding George in death are his brothers, Richard, Robert, and John Colburn; a sister, Shirley Johnson; and his father. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Colburn of Springfield; his children, James F.G. "George" Colburn, Jr. and Megan Emily Colburn, both of Springfield; his mother, Marion Spaulding of Springfield; his siblings, Douglas Farley of DeKalb, Karen Young of Yorkville, and Diane Stuewe of Homewood. Family will receive friends from 10:30-1:15 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. A funeral ceremony will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2009 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home with Pastor David Upchurch officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
