

James "Jim" Lee Deatherage, 56, of Springfield, died at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born June 16, 1958 in Jacksonville, Illinois, the son of Melvin and Ermadean Luttrell Deatherage. He graduated from Waverly High School in 1976 and was a member of Waverly First United Methodist Church. He married Gloria Jacobs on November 10, 1990 at Island Grove Methodist Church in New Berlin. Jim worked for the State of Illinois for 33 years and retired as an Information Technology Specialist. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packer fan, enjoyed traveling, music and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife, Gloria Deatherage of Springfield; one stepdaughter, Jill (husband, Garret) Leach of Glenview; three step-grandchildren, Alec, Gavin and Calie Leach; mother, Ermadean Deatherage of Springfield; one sister, Deborah (husband, Robert) Fromme of New Berlin; one niece, Jenna Fromme; one nephew, Matt (wife, Kacy) Fromme; and several cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center. Celebration of Life and Memorial Gathering: The family will host a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Long Bridge Golf Course, 1055 West Camp Sangamo Road.
