James R. Evans, 70, of Springfield, died at 5:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his residence. James was born August 13, 1942 in Springfield, the son of Horace "Curly" and Vivian Rodgerson Evans. James was a graduate of Lanphier High School and was the owner of the Discount Smoke Shop. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two sons, J.R. (Sarah Bloodworth) Evans of Springfield and Jim "Scooby" (Holly Taylor) Evans of St. Louis, MO; partner, Deborah McAllister of Springfield; one grandson, James M. Evans of St. Louis, MO; and sister, Marcy Evans of Springfield. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home. 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
