James "Jim" Glass, 73, of Springfield, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at his residence. Jim was born August 8, 1944 in Gainesville, Florida, the son of Clyde and Virginia Stone Glass. He married Dorothy Harmon on April 7, 1993; she preceded him in death. Jim attended Springfield High School. He proudly served in the United States Navy and worked as a concrete finisher in Springfield. He was a member of the Concrete Finishers Union and the Eagles Club. Jim was an avid coin collector, loved NASCAR, and was very proud of his small garden. He enjoyed bow and shotgun hunting and fishing. He was also preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his two daughters, Ereka Glass and Kathy (Phillip) Banks, both of Springfield; one son, Joseph (Anna) Tabit; one grandchild, Dalen Banks; two brothers, Kenneth (Fran) Glass of Sun Rise Beach, MO and Steven (Cindy) Glass of St. Claire, MI; many nieces; and one nephew. Graveside Ceremony: 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Camp Butler National Cemetery, 5063 Camp Butler Road, Springfield, with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
