

James R. Havrilka, 62, of Springfield, died at 12:55 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his home. Jim was born June 29, 1953 in Springfield, the son of Paul Stephen and Anita Marie Lucas Havrilka, Sr. Jim graduated from Griffin High School and later earned a degree in horticulture. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Jim was the owner and operator of J & S Landscaping of Decatur, IL. He had a strong faith in God, loved nature, collected coins, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Steve and Emma Havrilka; maternal grandparents, James and Loretta Lucas; brother, Paul S. Havrilka, Jr.; grandson, Kayden Martin Swat; brother-in-law, Mark Atwood; great-niece, Kaylee Havrilka; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his three sons, Jimmie Havrilka of Springfield, Stephen Havrilka of Venice, FL, and Andrew Myers of Springfield; three daughters, Jamie (husband, Greg) Whited of Springfield; Sharon Marie (husband, Greg) Swat of Venice, FL and Abigail Myers of Springfield; five grandchildren, Ryan, Bailey, and Shelby Havrilka, and Nevaeh Marie and Landen Matthew Swat; great-grandsons, Oliver and Jaylyn Havrilka; siblings, Rita Havrilka, Karen (husband, Harold) Beckner, Mary (husband, John) Atwood, and Carol (husband, Albert) Boggs, all of Springfield, Kevin (wife, Cheryl) Havrilka of Chatham, Mark (wife, Becky) Havrilka of Long Grove, and Lisa Atwood of Riverton; sister-in-law, Judy Havrilka of Walnut Hill; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Liturgy: 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Steven Janoski, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors provided by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Department of Defense.
