

Mr. Hayden was born on September 22, 1924. He was the son of the late Delbert and Mable (Surprise) Hayden. He married Annamae Godwick on November 14, 1953 in Chicago, IL and she survives.
Mr. Hayden worked at Illinois Bell Telephone Co. for 32 years, then worked for the State of Illinois Department of Transportation for 10 years, retiring in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army 71st Division during the WWII era, he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of Woodside United Methodist Church, Colfax Lodge 378 AF&AM, south Bend Consistory, Ansar Shrine, BPOE Elks Lodge 158 and the Sangamo Surf Club
Along with his wife Annamae, he is survived by 3 sons, Jeff (wife Pam) Hayden of Peoria, IL, Kurt (wife Sue) Hayden of Louisville, KY, and Mark (wife Mandi) Hayden of Rochester, IL and 9 grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Monday, April 11, 2011 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at 12:30 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Jim Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or The Leukemia Lymphoma Society.
