James F. McCaffrey, Jr., 82, of Springfield, IL died at 4:18 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at his residence. James was born November 8, 1935 in Chicago, IL to James F. McCaffrey, Sr. and Anna McCaffrey. He married Germaine Ann Hood in Schaumburg, IL in 1963. James proudly served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. A proud graduate of Loyola University, he served as an investigator for most of his career. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Germaine Ann McCaffrey; son, Stephen McCaffrey of Springfield, IL; daughter, Ann Marie McCaffrey of Kosice, Slovakia; sister, Kathleen Ann McCaffrey of Schaumburg, IL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Dreger and Mary Ann Beane; and brother, William McCaffrey. Memorial Gathering: The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at the Parish Center at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1930 Barberry Drive, Springfield. Memorial Mass: 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church. A private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
