James Patrick (Jimmy) Moody

He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Moody and his brother Robert Timothy Moody. He is survived by his daughter, Claudia Grace Moody and her mother, Liz Moody; his mother, Matilda Jean Moody; brother, Terrence (Terry) Moody; three sisters, Sally (Mark) Curran, Mary Moody, and Katie (Steve) McNamara; and several nieces and nephews, who loved him very much.

Jimmy graduated from Lanphier High School, Illinois State University and Western Michigan University, Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He was a Certified Public Accountant and Attorney in Springfield, IL. He also served as a precinct committeeman and was Sangamon County Democratic Chairman from 2009 to 2012.

Jimmy lived his life to the fullest and was a very generous man. He was always willing to help another person in need. He was an excellent attorney representing hard-working union members. And, he adored his daughter, Claudia. Jimmy was an avid Cubs fan and loved fantasy football on Sundays with his family and friends. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was a Past-President of the Sons of Erin and always enjoyed celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. Jimmy had a heart of gold and will be dearly missed.

Cremation care will be provided by Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center – Springfield.
