Jane Byram

Jane was born November 15, 1952 in Springfield, the daughter of William C. and Agnes Downing. Jane married Don Byram on February 23, 1974 in Springfield.

Jane was a 1970 graduate of Springfield High School. She earned a B.S. in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University followed by a master’s degree in Psychology and Education. Jane was a teacher in several communities including Rochester, Paw Paw, Earlville, and Ottawa. She was a member of the Preceptor Zeta Nu, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority; Springfield Bridge Club; and was the director of Holiday Book Club. She was an avid jazz and tap dancer, reader, and tennis player. She enjoyed playing golf, but most of all she was proudest of and enjoyed her three children and grandchildren above all other things.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Don Byram of Chatham; three children, Scott (Susanna) Byram of Naperville, Katie (Nathaniel) Price of Georgetown, KY, and Mark (Melissa) Byram of Naperville; six grandchildren, Morgan Byram, Madison Price, Carson Price, Mason Byram, Mackenzie Byram, and Madelyn Byram; brother, William C. Downing III of Grand Rapids, MI; two sisters, Libby Todd of Marietta, GA and Ann (Guy) Booth of Mt. Vernon, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation will be provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.

Memorial Gathering: Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Butler Funeral Home—Chatham, 8855 State Rt. 4, Chatham.

Memorial Ceremony: 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Butler Funeral Home—Chatham, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating.
