Jane was born December 5, 1943, in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Lester and Edna Woodall Rector. She married Charles Walter Hughes on April 7, 1962, in Farmersville, IL; he preceded her in death on August 23, 1998.
Jane graduated from Litchfield High School and worked as an administrator with Franklin Life for over 30 years before retiring. She was a former volunteer at Brother James Court and also delivered flowers for Flower Connection. Jane enjoyed working crossword puzzles, baking desserts, loved flowers, decorating for the holidays, and traveling, especially internationally and the beach. Jane also loved animals, especially birds and cats. She truly never knew a stranger and believed that there’s nothing a little laughter can’t fix.
We will miss her beautiful smile and loving presence forever. She will be dearly missed by everyone who had the joy to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Beulah, Mildred “Millie”, Helen, and Viola “Gigi Vi”.
Jane is survived by her children, Martin “Marty” Andrew Hughes and Christine R. Anderson of Springfield; grandchildren, Aubrey Jane Anderson of Springfield and Savannah (fiancé, Joshua DiMarco) Anderson of Orlando, FL; and several nieces and nephews, including her niece, Kathy Adams.
