Janet M. Bennett

Janet M. Bennett, 74, of Springfield, died on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Heritage Health. Janet was born August 31, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of William and Margaret Elizabeth Geiser Zobel. Janet graduated from Lanphier High School in 1961. She worked for many years as a travel agent for Braniff Airlines. She then went on to work for the federal government, first at the IRS and then for the Illinois National Guard, retiring in 2009. Janet was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served on the Ladies Aid group. Her favorite things included gardening, going to garage sales and auctions, and spending time with family and her many friends. She also loved animals, especially dogs. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Linda Foster) Bennett of Pawnee; daughter, Leslie Bennett of Springfield; and grandchildren, J.R., Gianni, Devin, and Drew. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home with Rev. David Bueltmann officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
