

She was born in Morgan County, IL, to James H. Shearburn and Meta (Sample) Shearburn. She married Charles Williamson in 1975, and he preceded her in death in 2018.
Surviving is her daughter, Jamie; two sons, Michael (Leslie) Thornton and Richard (Rita) Heuerman; sister, Roberta McLaughlin; brother, Robert (Martha) Shearburn; six grandchildren, Joshua, Ashley, Deanna, Ryan, Jason, and Alex; four great grandchildren, Taylor, Kaire, Isabella, and Caroline. She was also blessed with stepchildren, Michael Williamson, Denny (deceased) (Kathy) Williamson, and Martin (Lisa) Williamson; and four step grandchildren, Robert, Micheal, Nathan, and Allie.
Janet retired from the Kmart Corporation after 35 years. She continued to work temporary assignments with IDOR, Wells Fargo, Chase Bank, and worked for the Village of Southern View as Village Clerk. She was an active member of the Southern View Chapel, participated in church ministry, and volunteered at local nursing homes.
She dearly loved her family and friends, including her church family! Janet was kind and saw the good in people. She loved children, including her cat children! She cared for all the birds and animals that visited her yard and enjoyed nature. She was a strong, brave person all her life, even in her long fight with cancer. Janet was very loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.
Memorial Gathering and Funeral Ceremony: Family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home- Springfield, 900 S. 6th St. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Pastor Gary Gilley officiating.
Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League or Southern View Chapel of Springfield, IL.
