Janet Wittmuss

Janet Lynn Wittmuss, 71, of Springfield, died at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at her home. Janet was born May 17, 1947, in Quincy, the daughter of John L. and Lucille Hillebrenner Redman. Janet attended Plainville Elementary School, graduated from Seymor High School, class of 1965, and earned a bachelors degree in Science of Nursing from Passavant School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Memorial Medical Center for 42 years. Janet was a member of the Memorial Retirees Club. She loved flowers and sports. She also enjoyed reading, collecting, antiquing, and spoiling her nieces and nephews. Janet was preceded in death by her father, John L. Redman; and aunt and uncle, Marjorie and Lozelle Cleaves. She is survived by her mother, Lucille Redman of Quincy; daughter, Kate Wittmuss of Decatur; grandpup, Chase; siblings, Mary K. Redman Miller of Quincy and John C. (Pat) Redman of Payson; a few aunts, uncles and cousins; and many nieces and nephews, including Aaron Miller, Jeff Redman, Lori (Hank) Geerling, and Rachel (Jeff) LeClair-Scott; and beloved dog, Sasha O. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center after ceremonies. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th Street, Springfield. The family suggests those attending wear fun colored, comfortable clothing in honor of Janet. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
