

Jean D. Hanson, 85, of Springfield, died at 1:30 a.m. on Monday, April 10, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital. Jean was born on July 31, 1920 in Staten Island, NY, the daughter of John and Jean Taylor Mackenzie. She married Everett R. Hanson in 1957 in Detroit, MI; he preceded her in death on February 23, 1990. Jean was a homemaker. She was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving as a surgical nurse. She was a member of VFW Post 755, American Legion Post 32 and DAV Hall Hagler Chapter 15. She enjoyed reading and playing golf. She was also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by one son: John E. Hanson of Springfield; one sister: Henrietta Mackenzie of Priddis Alberta, Canada; one nephew: John Mackenzie of Priddis Alberta, Canada and one niece: Morah Fletcher of Campbell River, BC. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2006 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Dr. Roger Rominger officiating and military honors conducted by the Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail. Memorial contributions in memory of Jean D. Hanson may be made to Charity of Donor’s Choice. The family of Jean D. Hanson is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St. Springfield.
