Jeanne Suzanne Lyman was born in Harlan, IA to Howard and Mary Ellen (Ryan) Finken on February 21, 1951. She left this world on September 18, 2017 while in the tender loving care of her daughter, McKenzie and the staff at Seasons Hospice in Naperville. Jeanne attended Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville, where she met the love of her life, Bradley (Brad) Lyman. The couple married on February 20, 1971. Brad passed away on March 30, 2016. Jeanne and Brad first lived in Pittsfield before making their home in Springfield, where Jeanne had a long and successful career with the State of Illinois. She retired in 2002 as the Business Administrator of School District 428 with the Department of Corrections School District. In their 45 years of marriage, Jeanne and Brad loved to have a good time with friends and family. To the twins, Jeanne was Mema and to Jeanne, the girls were her Grand Dollies. Jeanne loved the water, whether the ocean or a pool, so Jeanne and Brad really enjoyed trips to warm places with friends and family. She loved to cheer for the Chicago Bears and the Cubs. People were drawn to Jeanne. Her gentle demeanor, sense of humor, generosity, kindness, intelligence, and culinary skills made spending time with her a joy. Faith was the cornerstone of the large Finken family, a faith that began for Jeanne at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Harlan, where she received all of her sacraments from baptism through marriage. Jeanne attended St. Michaels Catholic School through 8th grade and graduated from Harlan High School in 1969, before attending Northeast Missouri State University in Kirksville. Jeanne was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Springfield. Theres no doubt that Jeannes abiding faith gave her strength during challenging times.
