

Jeanne Young, 88, of Springfield, died at 6:50 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at her home. Jeanne was born February 15, 1927 in Huntington, IN, the daughter of Ira O. and Mary Elizabeth McNulty Miller. She married Robert Dee Young on June 21, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Huntington, IN; he preceded her in death on August 13, 1981. Jeanne began working at First National Bank in Huntington, IN and then for Lincoln Life Insurance as a bookkeeper in Fort Wayne, IN. Jeanne and Bob also owned and operated Young's Nut Shoppe in Huntington for four years. After moving to Springfield in December, 1972, she volunteered with Girl Scouts and was a playground monitor while her children were in school. She was then employed with Mel-O-Cream Donuts for 12 years. Jeanne enjoyed spending time with each of her granddaughters and children, as those were her favorite times with family and friends. She also enjoyed working outside in her yard and garden and walking daily. She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Robert Miller, James Schafer, Edward Miller, and William "Bill" Miller; and three sisters, Frances Bonewitz, Marguerite Hyser, and Ann Berger. She is survived by her three children, Lisa (husband, Craig) Millman of Chicago, Kevin (wife, Shannon) Young of Lutz, FL, and Julie Jurgens of Springfield; three granddaughters, Allin Young of Chicago, Jennifer Young of Tampa, FL, and Jennifer (husband, Dan) Beard of Springfield; sisters, Genevieve Kasper of Columbia City, IN, Helen Martin of Modesto, CA, and Patricia Hay of Huntington, IN; and brother, Rev. Paul D. Miller of Fort Wayne, IN. Visitation: Family will receive friends from 11:00 to 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Christ the King Church, 1930 Barberry, Springfield. Funeral Mass: 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Christ the King with Rev. Richard Chiola, celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
