Jeffrey Layne Daily

Jeffrey Layne “Jebbo” Daily, 38, of Springfield, died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, November 2, 2003 in an auto accident on the west edge of Bond County. Jeff was born October 5, 1965 in Santa Anna, CA the son of Timothy and Charlene Helgen Daily. He married Dawn Hamende July 30, 1993 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Jeff. a 1983 graduate of Springfield High School, was formerly employed by the National Park Service at the Lincoln Home Historic Area and was currently employed as a lineman by CWLP and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) Local #193. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1983 – 1987. He was also a member of the Anchor Boat Club and he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and softball. He was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Daily and grandfather, Harold Helgen. He is survived by his wife, Dawn of Springfield; one son: Cole Patrick Daily at home; two daughters: Caroline Elizabeth Daily at home and Claire Isabella Daily at home; mother: Charlene Daily of Springfield; two sisters: Kanda Daily and Kelly Standridge both of Springfield; grandmother: Esther Helgen of Sorento, IL and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call at Christ the King Catholic Church from 4-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2003. Visitation will begin with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at Christ the King Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. David S. Lantz celebrant. Burial will follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daily Children Educational Scholarship Fund c/o Heartland Credit Union, 2213 W. White Oaks Drive, Springfield, IL 62704.
