He was born in Litchfield, IL, November 21, 1921, the son of Jesse E. and Tillie (Heyen) Beanblossom. A graduate of Litchfield High School, Beany went on to serve in WW II with the United States Marine Corps. After leaving the service, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He married Verna Rull June 4, 1955 and she preceded him in death in 2006.
Beany retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after over 30 years of service. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church (LCMS) for many years and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Beany enjoyed technology and was dedicated to keeping up with Facebook, email and texting family and friends. He found great joy in being in touch and up to date with family and friends activities, accomplishments and special occasions. His annual Christmas letter was received by many relatives and friends, always upbeat and mentioning his family, the Chicago Cubs and the activities at Bickford House.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Gale Beanblossom of Chesterfield, MO, his sister-in-law, Shirley Rull of Litchfield, IL, several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends.
Todd and Gale would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Bickford House and the Home Instead caregivers for their kindness and care given to Jesse.
The family will greet family and friends at Bisch Funeral Home West 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. Springfield, IL from 4:00-6:30 pm on Monday, January 28, 2019. Additional visitation will be at Concordia Lutheran Church 2300 E Wilshire Rd. Springfield, IL Tuesday, January 29, 2019 from 9:30 am until 10:15 am. Military Honors conducted by the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County will be held at the church at 10:30 am Tuesday, followed by a funeral service with Reverends Michael Koschmann and James Hennig. A committal service will be held in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Mt. Olive, IL at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 29, 2019.
