

Jesse L. Hoots, 88, of Mechanicsburg, passed away on June 14, 2024 at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 30, 1935 in Winchester to Edward and Reva (Goff) Hoots. Jesse married Marguerite Mae Walker on December 31, 1960 in Deckerville, Michigan, and she preceded him in death on March 2, 2023.
Jesse is survived by his children: Diane (Eric) May of Dundas, IL, Duane Hoots of Mechanicsburg, IL, Darlene Row of Monroe City, MO, Donna (Carl) Bloemker of Princeton, KY, and David (Laura) Hoots of Morton, IL; ten grandchildren, Craig, Rachel, Brendon, and Travis Bloemker, Kaitlynne, Megan, and Michael Hoots, and Samuel, Adrian, and Eleanor Hoots; eight great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Naomi Mumford of Winchester, IL, 3 sisters-in-law, Janet Webb of Hillsboro, WI, Ellen Kirt of Brodhead, WI, and Nancy Walker of Nashville, TN. Besides his parents and his wife, Jesse was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Donald Row, and a daughter-in-law, Sarah Hoots.
Jesse worked as a carpenter in the Springfield area and was a butcher at Winchester Kroger early in life. A quiet, gentle man with very strong faith and a love for God, he took care to live right by his fellow man. He loved sharing time and fellowship with his family and friends.
Services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd., Springfield, where visitation will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2024 from 4 to 7 PM. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at the funeral home with Glenn Gasser, Peggy Jansen, and Dana Jacobsen officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Bloomfield Cemetery near Winchester, Illinois.
