"Jim" Herman J. Miller, Jr.

"Jim" Herman J. Miller, Jr., 55, of Springfield, died at 9:59 p.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at St. John's Hospital. Jim was born October 9, 1958 in Springfield, the son of Herman James and Emma Jean Sommer Miller, Sr. Jim graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1977 and was employed for approximately 20 years for the Springfield Metro Sanitary District. He also owned Miller Brothers Excavating and Snow Removal. Jim was a member of the Sanitary Operating Engineers Local #399. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, trucks, and loved dogs. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Mother, Jean Peterman of Springfield passed away shortly after Jim. He is survived by his father, Herman J. Miller, Sr. of Chatham; daughter, Rachael Miller of Springfield; step son, Justin (wife, Melissa) Hurley of Chatham; siblings, Pamela (husband, Dan) Neuman of Loami and Timothy (wife, Terri) Miller of Springfield; two step grandchildren; three nieces, Tiffany, Amanda, and Christine; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Memorial Gathering and Memorial Mass: Family will receive friends from 9:00 until the time of the ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Monday November 18, 2013 at St Agnes Church with Rev. Robert Jallas, celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
