Jim Knowski, 78, of Riverton, passed away at 8:37 a.m. on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at St. John’s Hospital.

He was born in Springfield on March 19, 1946, the son of John and Emma (Theilken) Knowski. Jim married Barbara Boroweic in Riverton on October 4, 1969. Jim was a devoted husband and father.

Jim graduated from Lanphier High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, proudly serving our country for four years. Jim went on to work as a Midwest truck driver for several companies, including Anheuser-Busch and Kraft Foods. He attended various Catholic churches, and was most recently a member of Riverton Catholic Church. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus in Riverton. Jim loved trucks, motorcycles, visiting Buc-ees truck stops, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Anne Marie Livingston; and brother, Jack Knowski.

Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters, Jennifer (Stephan) Perlmutter of San Antonio, TX, and Lori (Tomey) Wilson of Riverton; grandchildren, Preston Perlmutter of San Antonio, TX, Evan Wilson of Riverton, Corey Perlmutter of San Antonio, TX, and Jolie Wilson of Riverton; brother, Gary (Suzanne) Knowski of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center.

The family will host an Inurnment at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Camp Butler National Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Illinois Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County and the Air Force Department of Defense. A Celebration of Life will follow from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Knights of Columbus, 335 S. 4th St., Riverton, IL.

The family is being served by Butler Funeral Home - Springfield, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield.
