Jo Ann Rowden

Jo Ann was born on September 11, 1938, in Virden, the daughter of John and Mary Jane Bostic Sargent. She married Charles Rowden on July 12, 1957, in Springfield.

Jo Ann was a 1956 graduate of Lanphier High School. She worked for St. John’s Hospital for over 40 years admitting patients, retiring in 2000. Jo Ann enjoyed baking, cooking, genealogy, and sitting on the patio.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, George Bisby; great-grandson, William Butler and six siblings, George, John, Gary, Sharon, Connie, and Mary.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth “Betsy” Bisby of Springfield, Penny (husband, Chuck) Unthank of Auburn, and Charlene (husband, George) Bechtel of Springfield; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and one on the way; and sisters, Judy Brest and Joyce Sargent, both of Springfield.

Cremation was provided by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to private family ceremonies.
