Joan Angela Avart

Joan Angela Avart, 57, of Springfield, died at 10:25 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at St. John’s Hospital. She was born on September 19, 1949 in Springfield, the daughter of Peter P. and Leona L. Seiz Beveridge. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and attended Springfield College in Illinois. She also obtained a Pharmacy Technician Certificate and recently completed a Realtors Class pursuing her Real Estate License. She was employed as a pharmacy technician at Complete Care Pharmacy for the past three years and previously worked as a secretary in the billing department of Wabash County Health Department for four years. Joan was a former member of St. James Catholic Church in Riverton for many years and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was very involved in church life and activities. Joan was a selfless, giving and caring woman with strong family values who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by four sons: Arthur “Scott” (wife, Naomi) Avart, III of New Berlin, Christopher Avart of Springfield, Nicholas Avart of Abita Springs, LA and Caleb Avart of Springfield; three daughters: Amy (husband, Peter, Jr.) Manuele of Springfield, Lori Baskett (Larry Jr.) of Springfield and Rebecca (husband, Joshua) Stafford of St. Peters, MO; six grandchildren: Joey and A.J. Manuele, Ellie, Ted and Avery Baskett and Brody Stafford; one sister: Mary Britz of Springfield; one brother: Charles “Charlie” (wife, Marilyn) Beveridge of Arkansas and several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2006 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence Avenue, Springfield, with Rev. Msgr. John R. Ossola celebrant and Rev. John Beveridge concelebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
