

JoAnna M. Griffitts, 79, of Riverton, passed away on Wednesday September 24, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center after a long battle with alzheimer’s disease. She was born on September 21, 1935 in Springfield to Delbert V. and Lucy Bitterick Koehler. She married Harry H. Griffitts on June 15, 1951 in Springfield and he survives.
Mrs. Griffitts is also survived by one son Rich (Diana) Griffitts of Springfield, four daughters: Roxanna (Elmer) Wardell of Buffalo, Tammie (Butch) Monier of Port Charlotte, FL., Lori Simmering and Lona (Curt) Boggs both of Riverton, three sisters, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Timothy Griffitts, son-in-law Kirby Simmering, sister Carol Dunham, and brother Donald Koehler.
JoAnna was a full time homemaker where she spent her time being a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed bingo, bunco, and bowling, winning the round the town tournament and also being inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. JoAnna enjoyed vacationing in Port Charlotte, Florida every year where she would fish, and visit garage sales, flea markets, and casinos. She was a friend to all that knew her.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday September 30, 2014 at Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 East Allen Street, with burial to follow at Camp Butler National Cemetery. The family will meet friends on Monday from 4-7pm at the funeral home.
