John A. Armstead, 56, of Springfield, passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Josephs Home. John was born June 9, 1962 in Springfield, the son of Thomas L. and Janet F. Casey Armstead. He was a graduate of Griffin High School. He loved working as an alarm installer for Youngs Security. John was a big Chicago Cubs and KISS fan. He enjoyed exercising and made sure he did so daily. John was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Thomas Armstead; and brother, Thomas "Mike" Armstead. He is survived by three sisters, Barb (Tim) Call of Springfield, Linda (John) Kulek of Petersburg, and Karrie (Brad) Long of Rochester; sister-in-law, Therese Armstead of Rochester, MN; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. John had a big heart and fought a hard battle with ALS. Special thanks to the Sisters and to the staff of St. Josephs Home for the wonderful care they provided during the last seven months. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies. Private family ceremonies will be held.
