

John T. Donelan, 59, of Springfield, passed away at 6:15 p.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010 at his home. He was born on February 24, 1951 in Springfield, IL the son of Thomas F. and Regina Coogan Donelan. He married Jeannie Baldes on August 31, 1974 in Jacksonville. John was a CPA, accountant and auditor, for the State of Illinois for thirty-two years. He also owned a personal and business tax service, and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. John's hobbies and interests were diverse and many. He was a student of history and collected World War II artifacts, loved watching movies and football, and liked to fish with his grandchildren and teach them about wildlife. His family and friends benefited from his outgoing personality, sense of humor and general inquisitiveness about the world. John was dedicated to his wife, family and friends. He touched the lives of many and will be missed greatly. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Donelan and a sister, Barbara Donelan. John is survived by his wife, Jeannie; two sons, Jim (wife, Cassie) and Steve (wife, Sara); five grandchildren, Michael and Elizabeth Donelan and John, Nicholas, and Andrew Donelan; mother, Regina; two brothers Tom and Paul (wife, Malissa); two uncles, two aunts, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield. The visitation will begin with a prayer service. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 524 E. Lawrence, Springfield, with Rev. Peter C. Harman celebrant. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
