

John T. Fagan, Jr., 80, of Springfield died at 1:01 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2004 at St. John’s Hospital. John was born January 28, 1924 in Evansville, IN, the son of John T. and Josephine C. Graham Fagan. He married Steffi Horoschiefska in1947 and she preceded him in death. John was a U.S. Army and Navy veteran serving in WWII and Korea. He also served as Sargent at Arms of the Veterans of the U.S. Army during WWII Constabulary. He retired from the State of Illinois where he had been employed for twenty years as a dietary supervisor. He was also preceded in death by his son: John T. Fagan III and his parents. He is survived by three daughters: Patricia (husband, Edward) Clink of New Berlin, Brenda (husband, Vernon L.) Wrest of Springfield and Nanette (husband, Michael) Valenti of Riverton, five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one sister: Patricia Wilson of Kansas and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home. Conceledrated Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2004 at St. James Church in Riverton with Rev. Msgr. Kenneth C. Steffen and Rev. Msgr. John A. Renken, VG celebrants. Burial will follow in Camp Butler National Cemetery where the Interveterans Burial Detail will conduct military honors. The family of John Fagan Jr. is being served by Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home.
