

John Frank Farley, 85, of Springfield, died at 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center. Frank was born March 12, 1928 in Springfield, the son of John Frank and Edith Pearl White Farley. He married Rita Rose Schuckhardt on September 25, 1948 in Springfield; she preceded him in death on November 11, 2009. Frank graduated from Lanphier High School. He went on to receive both his Bachelor's and his Master's Degree. He proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1946 to 1948. He was employed by Pillsbury for 47 years and loved to travel, especially to Hawaii and Arizona. Frank had been Vice President of the Pillsbury Mill and was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Navy Club, Interveteran's Burial Detail of Sangamon County, VFW Post 755, where he served in the past as Chaplain. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He was also preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Vickie Lynn Farley. He is survived by his son, John Frank Farley III of El Paso, TX; daughter, Bonnie K. Garrison of Coatsville, MO, formerly of Springfield, IL; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Theodore "Ted" (wife, Lael) Farley of New Berlin, Donald "Don" (wife, Urlis) Farley of Springfield, Nancy (husband, Fred) Stelling of Jacksonville, and Linda (husband, Jim) Cumby of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Ceremony and Visitation: 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at Kirlin-Egan & Butler Funeral Home, 900 S. 6th St., Springfield with Rev. Zachary Edgar officiating. Visitation will follow the ceremony until 7:00 p.m. Cremation will be accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center following the visitation. Graveside Ceremony: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Deacon Larry Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Interveteran's Burial Detail of Sangamon County. Friends are invited to meet at the cemetery for the ceremony.
